Build an educational quantum computer
Schiiq is the first low-cost, open-source quantum computer designed for education.
While quantum computing is a technology that might fundamentally reshape the future, actual hardware remains locked in elite laboratories due to prohibitive costs and complexity. Our goal is to change this by building a tabletop small scale quantum computing device that individual users can control, experiment with, and continuously modify.
The computer is based on Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), using the spin states of nuclei as qubits and radio-frequency pulses to control them. Unlike most systems that race towards raw computational power and scalability, Schiiq focuses on making quantum computing accessible and open.
By lowering the barrier to accessing real quantum hardware, we aim to give students from diverse backgrounds and other users the opportunity to experiment with quantum principles themselves and learn how quantum hardware and information work from the inside out.
